Ky House 2018

Special elections are scheduled for February in House Districts 49 and 89. The special election to fill the vacancy in House District 49 will be held Feb. 20, 2018, while the special election for the seat expected to be vacant in House District 89 will be on Feb. 27, 2018.

Rep. Dan Johnson’s death prompted the vacancy in District 49 that encompasses a part of Bullitt County. According to the Governor’s office, effective Dec. 31, 2017,  Rep. Marie Rader is resigning her seat in the chamber, which represents Jackson County and parts of Laurel and Madison Counties.

The deadline in House District 49 for Republican and Democratic candidates nominated by their party and independent candidates to file their certificates, petitions and declarations with the Secretary of State is Jan. 2 at 4 p.m. EST. Write-in candidates must file declarations of intent to be write-in candidates no later than Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. EST.

In House District 89, Republican and Democratic candidates and independent candidates must file with the Secretary of State by Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. EST. Write-in candidates will face a Feb. 16 deadline.
